Nearly five years after its 2021 origin, BYTES remains embedded in the Neo Tokyo economy. It is held across an unavailable number of positive-balance addresses on Ethereum and Avalanche. The staking contract holds an unavailable amount of BYTES, while more than two-thirds of S1 Citizens and nearly half of S2 Outer Citizens are staked.

Community Distribution

Distribution is another strength. Neo Tokyo's official tokenomics show BYTES was 100% allocated to the community, with no team allocation or VC unlocks. The original token was claimable only by full Citizens with Vault Cards; today's configured BYTES 2.0 issuance flows through staked S1 and S2 Citizens. That makes BYTES community-held by design: supply entered through participation rather than an insider treasury or vesting schedule. Its 2021 origin was unusually fair and broadly distributed, and the model remains difficult to match.

Issuance Outlook

The configured S1 and S2 reward windows currently emit about an unavailable amount. Actual configured emissions may differ from today's modeled rate. If participation remains near current levels and future reward windows resume tracking the weekly curve, the model projects about an unavailable amount of issuance over the next 365 days. The Terminal separately tracks about an unavailable amount of net pending rewards. Those rewards are accrued but unclaimed and do not enter the current token supply unless they are claimed and minted.

Pressure Profile

Earlier reward windows emitted far more BYTES each day, so the current stream creates less new inventory for the market to absorb. That may reduce emissions-driven pressure, but it does not predict price. Pending claims, future reward settings, demand, liquidity, and holder behavior still determine what happens next.

CoinMarketCap's ranked market snapshot places the $1 million market-cap line around rank 1,917. That is broad context rather than an official BYTES rank, but it shows that seven figures clears much of crypto's ranked long tail. Nearly five years after BYTES began, its first-party onchain market cap still sits around an unavailable amount. It is not enormous by crypto standards. It is still here, still staked, and still economically meaningful.

  1. Valuation basis. Market Cap* means Ethereum canonical totalSupply() × BYTES/USD spot price. It is the Terminal's first-party onchain market cap, calculated from verified canonical supply rather than CoinMarketCap's older self-reported supply figures. Avalanche bridged representations are not added. The spot reference can be affected by pool liquidity and manipulation.
  2. Market benchmark. CoinMarketCap's ranked all-coins view, sorted by market cap, showed $1.00 million through rank 1,917 and $993,544.79 at rank 1,918 when checked on August 23, 2026. This cutoff is broad context only: the Terminal's first-party market cap is not an official BYTES rank or percentile on CoinMarketCap. CoinMarketCap's much larger tracked-token count includes assets without ranked market caps, so it is not used as the denominator.
  3. Issuance projection. The next-365-day projection starts with current configured S1 and S2 emissions, uses the remainder of the current decay week, and then applies weekly decay. It assumes participation stays near current levels. The contract does not apply the reference curve automatically.
  4. Staked and pending BYTES. The staking-contract balance is existing minted BYTES held at that address, but direct transfers mean it is not a pure active-principal or circulating-supply measure. Pending rewards refresh daily and report indexed net user rewards; the separate DAO-tax aggregate is available in the metric details. Pending rewards do not enter token supply until claimed and minted.
  5. Holder counting. Holder counts include addresses with positive chain-local balances. The weekly cross-chain total merges matching Ethereum and Avalanche addresses so each address is counted once. It does not identify beneficial owners or look through custodial wallets.
  6. Citizen staking denominators. Citizen staking percentages divide live staked counts from the canonical V2 contracts by original collection supplies at the same Ethereum block: 2,081 S1 and 3,770 S2. Current assembled V2 supplies are dynamic and shown separately.
